Having done all to stand…Stand! Eph.6:13-14
Words from the Apostle. Ancient as they may be, they are still relevant!
They are instructions to the Christian. Paul uses the roman soldier in complete battle array as a metaphor to impress his audience of the kind of war zone they are living in. He instructs, “The weapons of our ‘warfare’ are not natural.” 2Cor.10:4-5 the enemy is not flesh and blood. His origin is spiritual, dark and invisible. Like it or not, he is telling the Christian to stand.
Even if battles, warfare, and fighting aren’t your choice, this fight has chosen you. Instructions are found in Paul’s letters to New Testament believers, how to engage it. What does that mean Pastor? It means, whether I like it or not, a fight for life is before us.
The war we wage is calling us to “stand” in the gap. A gap in the wall of protection, allows hopelessness, fear, discouragement and depression to rule the mind, permitting fear and panic to disarm defenses. Prayers are edited down to a muttering of unbelief.
When we stand in battle array with shields of faith, swords of the spirit, breastplates of righteousness, belts of truth, feet prepared to stand rough terrain and helmets that intimidate the enemy called virus, we win this.
Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection declares He “disarmed principalities and powers!” Col.2:15
To believe the impossible, one must first see the invisible! The Christian’s place on a wall called “intercession” sees this virus disarmed, no effect, contained, and contagions stopped. What does that look like on the visible front lines? Health care workers, first responders, housekeepers, essential business owners protected. It means stamina, courage and reinforcements. It mean breakthroughs in research, wisdom for every doctor/patient dilemma. It means stability for the economy, hospital beds available and fully equipped for every purpose. It means we win! We can hug again!
I believe more than ever, the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is essential. The gospel is imperative to access peace, comfort, contentment, forgiveness, Hope and healing!
For this time and season everything is different and difficult. We have found new ways for everything. I have to close my church doors, but the church is open! If you are ministered to by the messages, letters or texts please, please share them!
A tremendous shout of Hallelujah for all of you who are sending, dropping off, or using tithe.ly to keep His church alive and vibrant. Your generosity will be incredibly rewarded.
This Sunday is Palm Sunday! Do not miss our shouts of Hosanna together at 10:15. That word is for today! Lord, Save Us Now!
